I have a 95 mtx with no fluid in the transmission. I have to drive it 150 miles, like right now to get home for work tomorrow can i drive it home and buy a new transmission later? I was driving in third and then it went pop i pulled over and it had a massive leak and metal from the housing laying under it. Is this possible? I know it isnt ideal, but is it possible?
Thank you.

How are you going to keep fluid in it if it leaks right back out?

There are no new transmissions for these cars.

I wasnt going to even try to put any in i wanted to run it dry. I know they dont make new ones but i would just put a remaned one in instead. Do you have any solutions that can be done in a few hours with no real tools or money?

It sounds like the differential pin has come out and broke the case. I think in that situation, your transmission is still salvageable.
150 miles is a long way to go with no oil, and a diff pin that is still capable of coming out further and doing more bad things, like locking up permanently.
There are no band aid fixes that will get you home in one piece.
If you have AAA and a cell phone, use that method
Otherwise, you need a bus.
When you are back home, you can organize a rescue mission with a U-Haul front wheel car mover and a friends half-ton..... around $50.00 for a one day round trip.

Car will not make it home with no fluid in trans. If you're in a well lit and safe place, much better to wait there for help than on the side of a dark highway.

I had a friend drive 300+ miles home in his old 95 after throwing a diff pin. The trans is pretty much ruined now so why not give it a shot. If you end up not making it home at least you will be that much closer.

My Probe survived many thousands of miles with a half pint of fluid in it. Kept complaining to the dealership about hard shifting and after about the 5th time, they finally checked the fluid and found it. They rebuilt the transaxle under warranty and included a new clutch as well.
