Howdy all! I recently ordered some parts from a Canadian supplier (God I miss living in USA just for the auto parts availability)

Some of the things I ordered included emergency brake cables, They appear to be wrong. Is there any way to crimp on those metal pieces that are missing or should I go about trying to get the cables returned for ones that are proper. These cables were a a special order and took a 3 week wait so I'm kind of annoyed that they didn't work.

That link is to a picture.

(Old cable on left, new one on right)

P.S. Can anyone recommend Canadian sources for these parts? I like ordering from SHOSource but the shipping and the customs fees **** me every time.

Hard to tell much from the picture, but if those knobs are the only thing that does not check out physically, then I would use them without hesitation.

There is a "How - To" on brake cables on this forum that you can look at.

The problem is that the metal bracket that connects to the other cable rides on those knobs and I believe they need to be there to correctly pull on the bracket to pull on the cable for the passenger side e brake

Actually upon further review it looks like mine was originally installed backwards? I'm going to look at that how to a bit better and try to figure out how it is supposed to be correctly installed now.

Then that is a different story, the parts may not be correct.
Google the part numbers on the cables you have and see what comes up, or punch those numbers into Ebay and Amazon.

Are they the same length? What year is the car?

look at Josh's website here http://www.shonutperformance.com/

and click on the brakes tab. It won't let me copy and paste direct page.

There are ford part numbers listed there that you can use to cross ref replacement parts.

has replacement cables with pics next to most of the items. You can see the missing pieces in some of those pics. and many have Ford part #'s in the item description info boxes

The car is a 1994 MTX. I think I'm going to try and return these and get a new set on amazon or something.

These cables are very close to the same length. I could try and cut off the spring on the end but it doesn't seem worth it. If they won't take them back I'll just try to give them away or something.

Yeah this is what I get when the place says that they don't have the ones I ordered in stock and that they would select them for my vehicle for me.

After spending some time looking at other cables I can confirm these are cables for drum breaks. I was very clear in that I needed ones for disc breaks. They are taking them back for a refund.

Thanks everyone!
