I was curious if Eibach springs would work well with new factory similar struts...I wouldn't be getting them through ford but through NAPA since I work there. Anyone have any experience or would I be better off spending the extra money on Tokiko's or something? I believe the brand that NAPA sells is Monro struts...of various quality levels, I'd be getting the best quality ones I could. Any input would be great, whether it's positive, or just making fun of me for asking a stupid question...i'll call that "constructive criticism" :p

My '92 has Eibach's with factory replacement struts. It handles nicely and gives a nice ride, but for pure performance driving, I would stick with Koni or the like.

With Eibachs I would recommend spending the money on Tokicos or Konis. The stock replacements will work well for about 6 months and then start losing damping effectiveness. They cannot handle the additional spring rate of most aftermarket springs.

If you're going to spend $$$ on new struts, I'd recommend going with KYB at a minimum. You'll probably get at least a couple of years out of them with pretty good performance with the Eibachs, and IIRC they have a lifetime warranty anyway. The Monroe and Gabriel replacements are really intended for the regular SLO, and with Eibachs I suspect the ride would be terrible. http://www.shox.com has some good prices on Eibachs and KYB's (or Tokicos or Konis if you decide to splurge).

Thanks for all the info guys! I think i'll just go with the Tokikos on ebay for 420 or so shipped...Might wait until spring to do it all then...won't really have the chance to enjoy it much during the icy/snowy winter...

i was goin to get a set of eibachs for cost from my freind. and just use my stock struts at the moment since i cant afford to buy new. i want to lower the car a bit, mostly in the front, the rear is sitting nicely right now. i live in a city blessed with potholes and dont do much aggressive driving, mostly freeway taking turns at higher rates of speed.
would the intrax springs be better for the setup or should i just wait.
if this whole job is goin to cost more than $600 for all the parts, im prolly scrappin the idea and goin for airstruts.
this is on my slo, not a sho, but since we share all the same basic suspension junk.....
