Um ya....lol looks like someone updated the product line ;)

Although it in the text you say they are intrax :p

Has anyone used these by any chance? I'm in the market for suspension so i've been pouring over all sorts of spring/strut info but nothing on these until i hit up the performance sho ptoday and they mentioned B&G springs are available.

In the 4 years I've had my Eibachs I managed to break two rears. Both time Dr Stimson @ SHOSource was able to get me a warranty replacement.

The fact Eibach has discontinued supplying doesn't bother me so much as the warranty aspect? Same for Tokico?

I also managed to get two used rear Tokicos from Dr Stimson as well as one of those was shot in the same 4 year period.

But the fact warranties are no longer good means any further replacements are 100% out of pocket.

We should do a class action for satisfaction purposes.

Whats the reason for them breaking? Is it that the eibachs cant handle the stress on them? Do you take the car to the track or anything?

Just wondering what the cause of the failure on them would be. How many KM's did you put on them before they broke?

I don't track the car. And they broke at different times. Once I was forced into a curb on the right side.

I only realized the left side was broken when I changed out the spindle and left Tokico (which was also broken because it froze...). I couldn't get the rear aligned because the spindle was bent from the frozen strut.

I think.......

Mileage was high normal and it was my daily driver at the time so it went through winter as well. I now have a 91 TBird SuperCoupe as well which gets wet summer days and a 97 Contour for winter.

Hopefully the tokicos and Eibachs it currently has will last with the lower useage.

In automotive-speak, frozen means seized or jammed. Not frozen in the literal sense. :)

Mid Vancouver Island.

I didn't know they could freeze either, but it did. I had the car parked outside and the driver's side faced north. And every frosty morning it was like driving a brick.

I've had my car since early 1995. And it went through every winter until last year. Great snow car but it was slowly being killed by it.

Actually no. I meant frozen in the literal sense. It's the only explanation I have. Only the left rear was affected and it was the one in the teeth of the north wind and the one that went rigid. Only on real cold mornings.

If it wasn't frozen I don't know what it was. I washed frequently in the winter and always rinsed out the wheel wells. I just assumed it got water in it some how.

oh....so the strut did actually freeze?

I assumed that since struts have some sort of oil in them, it could get very thick like sludge and unmanageable.

I'm no mechanic either but like I say, I can't think of another explanation for it to be stiff as it was. It had zero give. It was pretty cold, -10C, and windy for a 2 week period. And every morning the whole left rear was like driving a forklift.

But as temperature warmed up it worked again. But it for sure trashed the spindle while it was frozen.

My bad. I just assumed you meant seized. That's what I get for assuming...

Not a problem.

I could well be wrong, but I can't think of another explanation.

I'm too far away from other members for a group dissection when I have a problem so I fly by the seat of my pants.
