I've been trying to get the paper clip method to work by following the shotimes article but when I turn the key on for the koeo test the check light just stays on and doesn't flash, I cleaned the connections and tried several different angles but the same thing happens it just stays on.... what could be causing this, its my first time doing these tests but I think I'm doing them right:nut:

I read the article again (for the 3rd time) and I had it rigged wrong, I just ran the test and I believe it shows a 114 which is ACT out of self-test range on KOEO test all other tests came back as clear 111 and 9 for the last, I disconnected the battery for roughly 2months for winter storage but since it hasn't snowed yet I figured I would get an early start on working on it to get it ready for summer, would disconnecting the battery clear the codes because the light was on for a few minutes on the highway a couple of times the last time is was registered in october?

research says that a 114 can appear if testing is done in colder than 50 degree weather, true?

Disconnecting the battery should clear them, but if you want to be sure, pull the paper clip out while the codes are being displayed.

I don't know whether that's true or not about the 114 showing up in cold weather. I wouldn't think so, since it has to operate at temperatures well below 50F. Where did you read that?
