I know this is an SHO forum, but I've seen a few guys in here with Ecoboost Flexs. While trolling dealers looking for a nice used SHO, I got to sit in a Flex, and man that thing was comfortable!! I haven't gotten to drive an Ecoboost one yet, but we may drive to Ohio tomorrow and check one out. I see they're about 8/10 slower to 60 than the SHO, but I was curious what they would run with, say, a stage 2 or 3 Livornois tune.

13.5's. That's what I turned back in last Oct. with Torrie's "Boosted Tune... which is very similar to Livernois Stage 4 in terms of performance.

The Flex weighs approximately 400 lbs more, and has a much larger frontal area. The EB Flex does come with the same axle ration (3.16) as the Performance Package SHO, though the tires are 255 vs 245.

In the last few days, there have been many performance threads on Flex Net. One fella just took his new EB Flex to strip, and turned 14.2's stock with 55 deg outside temp. Also had really crummy 60 ft times (2.1+) so his times should have been better.

WOW... didn't realize my 2.1 was "crummy" considering my Flex was 100% stock! ;)

Ok... For 0-60, i use an ODB-II reader (Dashhawk). With 87 in the tank I pulled a 5.95 second 0-60.

I then started using 93 octane and took the 100% stock Flex to the track.

I was car 209. Last run was against a 2005-09 Mustang GT... I think he gave up at the end! LOL!

Also I now have the LMS tunes. I have only loaded the Stage 1 tune and have not gone to the track yet. I did however redo my 0-60 tests and have pulled a 5.63.

Hoping to get to the track tomorrow... Depending on how things go I may load Stage 2..

And yes, take a EcoBoost Flex out for a test drive!!!

I tried to validate with my excel spreadsheet, but I would need a 330 ft measure... However, I put a number so that I arrive with a 76mph speed for 1/8 mile and it gives me a 5.75 sec. given your 2.17 60ft and 9.27 1/8 times... That is kind of fast for that big beast! You would make shy a few G37's owners and 335i's as well. Well done and like Bob says, put that stage 4+ in there and **** the track...

Hey Steve...

What about my G8 time at Cordova IL this weekend... at the G8 Natl Meet.

I got a 2.401 60' with lots of wheel hop... an 8.667 @ 87.6 MPH for 1/8 & a 13.09 @ 110.1 in Quarter...

Or my other run.... 2.067 - 60 ft... Accidental bump into Manual Sport so bumped off the Rev-Limiter about 4 times before I realized what happened, and ended with a leisurely drive the rest of the way with 18.06 @ 57.1 MPH..... (I hid for 30 min after that one)..... lol+

The track is at 600' Alt... Air showed a 2500' Alt.

Have signed up for DRAG RACING 101.... JEEZ!!! lol lol

The first run, while awful, did show what my recent mods have done, as a friend who turned a 12.11 @ 111.0 (1.7 - 60' due to line-lock, slicks & converter), was actually slower by 2 tenths and 3 mph than my G8 in the last 1/8 mi.

Car weighs about 4K even. SO....How much RW HP do you think I may have anyway????

Tim and I talked for a long time, both at the strip, and also during Sat. My son has a 05' Subaru Forester Turbo stick, just like Tim's 04'. We all have G8's, and experience with old SHO's, so had lots to discuss.

Tim talked me into next yrs SHO Convention in MN. At this time I plan on bringing the Brick. My guess is that it would hold it's own on the track against my stock suspension G8 GT. And so far has a better 1/4 mi ET, but at about 5 MPH slower.

Great air coming this Fri Nite.... BIG Decision... which car to drag.... Desperate for 12's in Brick....

You would need to provide me with one of your best 1/4 mile slip (or 1/8 mile)... The numbers you are giving me now are not the best to extrapolate because on one run, you have a poor 60ft and the other one a better one, but poor ending... Try to find one that combines a good launching and a good race until the end and it will be a pleasure to do the maths for you.

Cheers!

Steve

Go the the track and post me your slip, I will give you a good estimation if you want.

Cheers!

Steve
BTW which of your ride are your referring as a turtle? lol! 'cause the SHO is not 5K lbs, nor the Sang and I am pretty sure the Lightning doesn't diserve that name...

So, is that your Lightning? Wow, that is a fast beast!!!
0-60 in 3.15 seconds estimated (but probably very very close to that within .05 seconds).
Reached in 171 feet...
Cool!

Yeah, thats the lightning. Pretty much just drove it to the track on 93 unleaded, swapped the tires and let it eat. Its much faster on good gas, more timing in the tune and the track setup with skinnies and the trailer hitch off, and even faster when I spray it with a 75 shot.

3.15 is supercar 0-60. :) And they can't tow a boat like me.

Yeah, 5.75 is what my math comes up with also... If my DashHawk is somewhat accurate, it would appear I pick up just over a tenth with the Livernois Stage 1 in my 0-60... Not sure if that will be enough to dip me into the 13's... Hoping to find out some time this week though... If not, then next week...

Sorry Steve... but that was my first and only WOT run with the G8 so far... 170 competitors & rain at 9:pM..... Has to be around 450 at the wheels though....

Want to hit the strip this Fri Nite... Going to be around 55 at 7PM, but not sure if I want to run the G8 or go for the 12's with the Brick...

Isn't your wife driving? Bring her, you drive the G8 and she will get your Brick in the 12's... It's automatic, AWD, brake/torque... she can manage that, no? Beside, your wife is probably less heavy than you (normally is the case, don't know in your couple... lol), so her lighter weight might be just what you need... I know that my wife offered to ride my car t give me the 12's, but I got it before she had to... lol!
Let us know which car you drove and what they did... Thanks!
