That's an interesting article, though I was unaware that liquid gasoline won't burn :)

It won't. It needs to be vaporized so it can be alongside air (oxygen). That's the whole point of the injectors (or carburetors).

When liquid gasoline 'burns', it's just the vapors at the edges that burns. The heat causes the rest of the liquid to rapidly vaporize and allows it to burn, but the liquid itself, doesn't burn.
