How do i fix , Ecc Code #24 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) or Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range, I replaced my fuel injectors and had my top end apart and sitting for about 2 weeks, i also took apart my intake manifold and the Iab valve? (Right behind where the throttle body is), Im, not sure if i damaged the valve but when i start my car with it pluged in, it starts and immediatly boggs down and dies. When i unplugged it it started and ran but the Idle was all wrong, should i replace this valve? is is something else?

Anthony,

1st look up the wiring diagram for the VAF/VAT for your model year. Bizzy has provided the diagrams in her post.

The connector has 5 slots but 4 wires (one blank slot) With the blank on the bottom the wires from the top are VAT signal, VAF signal, VREF, and Signal Return.

1st test VREF
Key off and wait at least 10 seconds
Disconnect VAF connector
Probe between VREF and Signal Return at VAF vehicle harness connector
Key ON Engine Off (KOEO)

You should get between 4 and 6 volts with a DIGITAL Multi Meter (DMM)

If not, check VREF circuitry and wiring

Test 2;

VAF Signal Key off and wait at least 10 seconds
Backprobe VAF connector between VAF and Signal return with DMM
KOEO
Move air vane meter through entire range

Results - variable voltage between 1 to 5 volts without any breaks as the vane is moved through the range

If not - Faulty vane air meter.

3rd. test;

Key off and wait at least 10 seconds
Disconnect VAF connector
Probe VAF connector between VAT SIGNAL and SIGNAL Return with DMM

Results Resistance values as specified (below) at a particular temperature

32 degrees F - 5800 ohms (resistance)
65 deg F 2700 ohms
185 deg F 300 ohms
220 deg F 180 ohms
240 deg F 125 ohms

If not Faulty Vane Air Meter.

I'll look into my referrence material on the IAB and get back to youo while you test your VAT/VAF rangerj

The IAT is the temp sensor in the airbox.

First off, if the ambient temperature was below 50 F, disregard the 24 error code.

Check to make sure the IAT sensor is plugged in.

Sounds like the IAB is a little goofed up. A new one may well be in order.
