These are the ebay indiglo guages. You don't have to take the needles off, except maybe the fuel/temp guage. Anyway, they are a breeze to install - took me less then 20 minutes total. (although I have taken that apart many times, so I know where every screw is) Shouldn't take more then 1 hour tops. Also I thought I'd throw in a few pics of my new DVD and LCD screen.
Pics - in no particular order.

Forgot to mention, they seem to be really high quality, and mine came with the switch for blue or green. Also most of these pics were taken at like 1/2 brightness level, because they get blinding if they are up all the way. I am super happy I got these, but I probably be selling them if speedhut ever comes through (depending on which set is better - Proabably the Speedhuts).

You don't have to remove the fuel/temp needles.. turn the fuel gauge clockwise to 12 o'clock and do the same with the temp (only counter clockwise) Slip the face over the top and turn the key to on.. needles back in position!

The instructions on those say you have to pull the black faces off the gauges, right? I think I read that in another thread.. sounds very invsasive if that's the case.

You know, I'm not sure. I had my other white guages on there from before, but I just left them on there. Still works good.

Wait... I think I was thinking about some other gauge face modification... nevermind then. Those look really nice and the price is right compared to the Speed Hut ones... plus they have Km/H markings for the Canadians...

I got these also. Very high quality item. Tell me, where did you mount the adjustment control and how did you wire it.

I have the gauges in now but wasn't really sure were to mount it or the best place to wire it? I really don't want to drill holes in the dash, or anywhere else for that matter. I was thinking of widing the whole for the knee mounted metal cover under the steering wheel? Will this cause a ground out or ????

Any help?

mine are in now also....took me longer than 20 mins. though. i mounted my controls ( i have the flat panel for the six color, not a ****), just above the panelt for the autolamp and dimmer. all you gotta do is pull down enough to slide that nice flat wire in there and then wire the sucker up. really not too bad. and i'm normally a menace with the tools. (he he he). only problem i have is when i put the color all the way to that blueish-purple color i get a slight humm. any suggestions? (ground, maybe...if so where did you mount the ground?)

thanx

I think the humming/buzzing noise is from the neons themselves. I have the same thing in my neon pedals and all the other neons in my car. I think That's just how any neon light source sounds.

Solution: Turn up the stereo :D

I zip-tied the adjuster **** from my Speed Hut gauges to one of the crossmembers under the dash directly under the steering column. I can reach down and adjust it if I really wanted to but I usually don't.

The hum you hear is from the inverter box itself. EL gauges work off of A/C and the hum is the switching back and forth 60 times (or more/less) a second. The different colors are attained by changing the voltage more or less and the frequency more or less.

By the way, crappy inverters tend to be louder and will reduce the life of the EL sheet itself. The one that came with my SpeedHut gauges is almost silent and one I bought from Target with some EL wire is hella loud.

hey lance,

the easiest place i found is on the fog light plug (on my 95 anyway), the blue w/ red stripe wire was the parking lights (that way it'll work just like factory), i just spliced in there. and hey while your in there do the fog light mod (he he he), well good luck it really is pretty easy, just be careful with the needles and don't forget to check the "post or ****" in the center also, if your not lined up perfect this will also interfere (sp?) with the needles operation. good luck.

I wired my gauges into the brown wire to the headlight switch which is the parking lights. Unfortunatly, when my alarm arms/disarms the gauges turn on and shut off too :)

Thanks everyone! I think I like the fog light area for hook up. And I'll do the Fog light mod while I'm there.. forgot all about that one!
