since i couldn't find this anywhere....

for anyone that needs to bypass there a/c compressor temporarily i thought it would be worth posting this...

for reference, the factory routing is something like this:
Factoryroutingv8

my a\c compressor was locked up (bad pulley bearing) and i needed to short belt it as a temp fix so i could drive it. The napa number for the new shorter belt is 6k755 and the routing goes like this..
Newrouting

the only problem with this is that the ribbed part of the belt is on the flat pulley between the PS and the crank. if you wanted to do this as a permanent change (ie: for performance reasons) i would suggest finding a ribbed pulley to replace that idler with (shouldn't be hard to do)

just thought i'd pass it along:wave:

You could also bypass that pulley and run an even shorter belt, you would get more belt wrap on the crank pulley as well.

nope, without going to the outside of that pulley the bult hits the timing marks on the timing cover, won't fit any other way

Thanks for posting that info.

Now, find me a way to bypass the power steering too. If UDPs are sooo effective, think of how much power you could free up by NDPs (No Drive Pulleys) :)

update. it appears that this routing still has the belt slightly rubbing the timing marks on the front cover, so without going to a longer belt and a larger idler, this would deff. be a temp. fix.
