Where is the transmission fill plug/hole (MTX)?

Yes, I'm serious. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place, but I don't want to go unscrewing something without knowing it's the right thing.

Thanks, both for the help and for not laughing at me.

   no im jk, I thought this once too. Its doesn't have one. I guess the fluid was never ment to be changed. To change it you have to drill a hold in the bottom of the case; or take out one thing down there (i forget what but its a bad idea because if the trans moves at all the internals fall apart.) anyway to fill it take a 3/8 drive ratchet and in the front of the trans about half way up the case or so you will see a round plug that the wrench will fit in. You can fill it up there.:thumb:

Just to clarify the above post your transmission doesn't have a DRAIN plug. The fill plug is just where 1993MTXSHO described, but the fill plug uses a 3/8" RATCHET drive to remove it. It's the only hardware on that tranny with a square hole in the middle of it.... just keep looking around on the front (radiator side) of your tranny. And be careful putting the ratchet or extension in that hole... make sure you slightly tap which ever of the two tools you use into the square hole with a hammer a few times to make sure the ball on the side of the ratchet or extension clears into the hole. Otherwise if the tool only goes halfway into the plug you will risk tearing up that hole (like an AAMCO mechanic did to mine) since the plug is made of aluminum.

Before attempting to open plugs like this, I always find that it's a good idea to use a pick tool to remove all the built up crud, and ensure the corners of the opening are cleaned out and square so that the ratchet fits in well.

Ahh, thanks! I did see the plug while poking around then, it was completely covered in dirt and such (live on a dirt road in michigan) and I was like "Huh, this is odd, but it doesn't have a head or anything".

I have a home depot 5gal bucket, with a 2.5" hole in the top for the shopvac and 1/4" tubing also threaded through the top to suck the fluid out with. So, I was indeed looking for the fill plug, not the drain plug.

Thanks again.
