Hi, I've searched far and wide, and can't find a definitive answer on this...
I'm aware that the preferred approach to running much more than e20 is to get an aftermarket hpfp.
My question is, is it advantageous, solely for the purpose of running/blending e85, to get the xdi 60 pump, or is there a point where the gains and benefit from e85 flattens out, perhaps a point in which the evo would still be sufficient and the 60 unnecessary?
In other words, I'm wondering if the xdi 60 is worth the extra money.
Future mods to take into consideration would be downpipes, intercooler, and possibly meth injection. Turbos, when the factory units give up. But at NO point will I be trying to get more out of the car than what it can reliably handle, as it's my daily driver.
Thanks in advance!

XDI60 is one and done. All the other versions of the HPFP are just stepping stones. So yes it’s worth the extra money. I have gone from the XDI35 to the XDIEVO to the XDI60. I haven’t had a chance to run the XDI60 but it’ll be E85 compatible for sure. Not sure what else you’re doing but I’d assume the DW300C LPFP would be a minimum and I’m not sure how nicely the stock injectors will play, probably just fine. I can’t say I’ll be trying that combo. I’m doing the XDI60, XDI2000cc injectors and Walbro 525 LPFP. That’s basically about 5k in fuel upgrades considering the Walbro 525 requires modifying the OEM fuel bucket and most buy a new one and modify that, so a new bucket assembly and Walbro 525 installed let’s call that about $500.

If you're only planning to go to 500 wheelhorse the XD35 will do the job with the gear head Gen. 3 turbos.. If you plan to go outside that then go to the XD60. But you will be into a motor build.

Yeah that's my limit.... I've got no problem dropping a grand or two here and there on mods, but at no point do I care to get into a motor build.
I just want to make sure on the hpfp so I only spend the money once, and don't end up wishing I'd gotten the big one first.
And I know ethenol wakes them up, but it's unclear to me if there's a plateau with it, and if so, which unit I'd need to reach it.

Assuming your stock pump is healthy, AJP can set your tune up for E30 w/o needing the upgraded pump. It will be on the more conservative side but definitely adds power compared to 93

Absolutely!

I'm trying to decide between the xdi evo or the xdi 60 for the option of running more e blend.

But just as ridered advised, I'm not wanting to go so far as to start needing supporting mods beyond what I had listed.
So I'm not if the evo will do, or if the 60 would be needed, or excessive.
Trying to get what info I can before I drop the $$$.
thanks for the replies, if anyone has any additional input, I welcome it!

Unless you are trying to run pure e85 or are aiming for building a 10 second car, the evo will be fine. I ran 11.59 with the LMS pump which is supposed to be less fuel flow than the evo.

Not to mention the trans will let you know you've gone to far.

I have the EVO, DW300, PPE DPs, Meth, but will change to direct meth inject by spring, EPP pipes, and TurboBay turbos sitting in a box. You do reach a point that no matter an engine build will be a necessity, because these were not built like the truck 3.5 and even with just these upgrades, your OEM turbos and internals are going to have a half-life. I'm going in a direction of max 550-600 whp, but no matter keeping the WTQ at 550, all for the trans sake. You might be happy with just an E30 tune in stock pumps, it's alot of bang for the buck. But throwing in upgraded turbos with stock internals, it's not a matter time when a rod might bend. And my current E30 tune is dialed down because of stock internals. But she still runs like a mad dog. Well now that she is fixed.
