Well wouldn't you know it, I got my 95 ATX inspected this past month and failed inspection. One of my problems was the fact that my mufflers each had a set of holes in them and that a weld gave away on the strait pipe. I patched my exhaust up to get the sticker, but I'll need replacement by this summer. I had my mechanic call Ford and apparently they stopped producing stock in 2001. I tried the usual auto places in town, but none of thier suppliers carry a complete setup from the resonator back. I know I could just go down to meineke and have them bend me something, but I've always thought about throwing on a performance setup regardless. I found Dynomax makes a setup that they call "Super Turbo", which I've found to run somewhere in the neighborhood of $315. I was just curious if anyone out there had anything good or bad to say about their exhaust.

The dynomax cat back can be had for as little as $250, but the pipes rot out very quickly. From what I've heard the average lifespan in a salty area is 1 winter.

hey two questions here...
1 is it gonna be cheaper to just get a walker turbo tube with flowmasters, and get an exhaust shop to put it all in or just buy the dynomax system?
2 is installing that flex pipe i keep seeing posted about on here between the cat pipe and the resonator a truly good fix for the cat back problem ?
i am curious b/c i will be getting my 2nd sho next friday which has the same exhaust problem as my current white 91.
also gotta gloat a lil on my future sho here...
200xxx mi,all new tires, new struts, new radiator, new clutch job just done...incidentally,the sho was dealer maintained its whole life, with ford parts b/c the guys brother is a service dept manager at a ford dealer.
i can't wait till next friday....

oops,forgot to post this...

i can get the 21/4 in correct style flowmasters off of ebay for like $37 ish each muffler...(forgot to check ebay for the turbo tubes),but i know that is a decent price for flowmasters...
oh yeah i wasn't truly clear but i had a slight rusting out at the front pipe-cat back ******...

also i never remember to make a mental note as to whose sig(i think thats what the bottom of the page describing yourself) is called, but his thing at the bottom of all his posts is something like"i love ebay,i get all my stuff off of ebay!!!"

i agree 100%....man,how did we ever survive without ebay...???????
now i just gotta get a new eatc for my car to cure the cracked button eatc problem.(might have to get two of them, not sure yet....

also,on a different note, has anyone here tried the taylor wires for the sho ?
they are cheaper than the ford wires and i assume they are also a better made, thicker better voltage, etc, but i am worried about proper fitment worries...(also,to the moderators,if there is a current or older thread about them, then let me know the link,please....)

I've had the dynomax cat-back on my car for about 2-3 years. I live in MA with some good winters on it and I don't have any rot in the pipes themselves. I've had alot more work done on my exhaust after that though. But if I had known about my local exhaust shop then I just would have him make me the cat-back. There was a custom exhaust shop that put in an unbeliveable cat-back system for my friend's 89 with a flex pipe and Flowmaster mufflers for about $300-$350. It was just an awesome job, very good quality of piping and workmanship. So try calling around local "custom" shops and see what they can do for you.

Thanks for the input fellas.

AutoSho: I don't know if it was a friend of yours that had the rot problem with the Dynomax, but if it was: Tell them to visit the Dynomax website and checkout their warranty http://www.dynomax.com/warranty.stm . One of the reasons I was possibly going to go with Dynomax was because of their promise to replace defective, and yes, even worn, parts from their exhausts.

SteedaSVT: How did you like the clamps that were provided? I heard a rumor that they could possibly slip and detatch (Then again, maybe the guy that told me this didn't install the pipes correctly). I'm just curious how good they work because I'm still considering pulling out my old mans oxy-acet set and welding the whole thing together just to be safe. Then again, I'm not a very good welder, so we'll see how far I take that idea.

masho95: Do you happen to know the name of the shop your friend used? I am also from Mass, but haven't really found a good custom exhaust shop (one I would trust anyway). For that price you gave though, I would defiantely look into it, if I knew the right place to go.

Thanks again guys,

Timmy

Yeah the name of the place was Service Connection. And the guy that does the work is Al. I believe it's in Monson, but I can't find a listing for it right now. My buddy has one of their keychains so if you're really interested I'll get the info from him.

Edit: Where ever you go, if they install a flex joint make sure that they also install a ****** joint too so that the y-pipe is removable.
