I need the part number or size of the O ring where the crossover tube from the water pump meets the thermo housing. Also, does anyone know of an easy way to put this back together again? That stupid 3 1/2in coolant line between the heads is a real pain in the ass.

I don't know the part # of the O ring off hand, but I can tell you that its been discontinued!!! :( The 3 1/2 inch hose is a pain in the ass!!! I cut a section from a piece of heavy duty truck hose (Gates). If your O rings are in good shape, you can reuse them, just make sure you use a little lubricant on them before installing. This will prevent from tearing them (as I did). Good luck! thumb

Why is that a stupid question?

You can get the Fel-Pro ES70425 water pump gasket set for about $6 from most auto parts stores. I have also bought several of the two O-rings from a hardware store. Discontinued? Hardly.

I just thought this question was stupid because I kept tearing the o-ring when I would install it, get everything back together, just to have it leak all over the place. Thanks for the number!!

Use a little grease, or silicon sealant to glue the small O ring into the water pump grooves. On the big o ring for the tube a little dab of grease is all thats needed. You might want to inspect for corrosion, up here in the great salted north all the aluminum parts are slowly turning into a white powder. You being in Ca. may not have to worry about that.
On the 3 1/2" line, try removing the outlet housings from each head, still some work, but easy to put the hose on with them removed.

Pep Boys also carries an assortment of Metric and SAE o-rings. they are located near the HELP section (well, at least where i go they are)

EDIT: the only dumb question is the unasked question.
