The latest Torque Converter I got has a HD dual disk clutch in it. Anyone have any insight about these?

SHOZ, I'd guess it's more heavy duty than what you previously had, or stock.

What's the stall on it?

I know it is more HD. The normal ones only have one disk. I don't know the stall. The last rebuilt single disk one I had stalled at 2600 or so. I would think this one is a bit higher but won't know for a while.

We just bought into a torque converter company... I will ask the head rebuilder there. I can not imagine how that would work. I have not seen the inside of our converters, but I have seen others. Most do not look like a common ATX friction inside. They tend to be a lining bonded on to a metal backing.

I will check into this Paul.

Does it have a hard lock up engagement....?

It is not installed yet. I was told the shifts would be quite firm and so I assume the TC engagement will be also. I have no problem with that and ran my TC lockup rather abrupt before on the other rebuilt TC. It held up very well and was just a standard fully brazed aftermarket rebuild.

Appreciate any insight you can give Mike.

He stated that he has seen that before. He even made it sound like it is installed like that from the factory.

One friction ( just like in a transmission, only larger ) a molded lining on both sides of a steel plate, and a second friction.

FWIW he is an older guy, who may have some stuff confused about it being like that from the factory. But I stated I have a friend with a Taurus, and told him about the two frictions. He said " Alot of your SHO Taurus come like that. "
