How is this done? Ive seen alot of talk about it but no real info on it. I did a search and found questions about it but no answers. I have an idea what it is but not positive.

Pics? Explanations?

Its not such a bad thing because you do get some drop but don't lose any suspension travel.

Take a front wheel off and figure it out. Just don't go too far.

I wouldn't do the fronts, too close to the CV joint boots if you ask me. I would like to see how much they ballon out under high speed. The rears have lots of room to go down though.

I had mine within a 1/4" of the CV boot and never had any rubbing.

Good way to raise the back too but push the strut up in the knuckle.

There have been plenty of members on TCCA that have done this and never had any problems. FFVulcanPowah(Mark), for one, has had his lowered this way for almost 3 years and never had any problems. There have also been a few that have done as Paul suggested and raised thier ass ends the same way. You just have to make sure you don't get too close to the CV boot, and that the pinch bolt is tight. And fyi, the after market struts seem to be a bit more difficult to get the "tab" off of, Mark had to grind them because they were attached VERY well. Anyway, good luck in what ever you decide.

After extensive, painstaking research at the AZSHO club, it has been determined that the clearance between the spring perch and the tire may be a bigger issue than the clearance to the CV boot. Naturally, our research and methods are proprietary, so I can't divulge any more details than that.

Surprisingly, this can be true even with coilovers, since springs long enough to avoid binding may also result in tire/perch clearance issues if the strut is dropped in the knuckle.

I've said too much already...

I suppose it would be more effective it you were running 225/50/16s instead of the OEM size. Then you could get more drop out of it.

Agreed on both points. I have my rears dropped 1/2"+, with no ill effects, and plenty of clearance between the spring perch and the tire. I considered doing the same up front, but was not comfortable with the CV boot and perch/tire clearances that would result, so I left it alone. :)

Coilovers were the one thing I was thinking about since they are adjustable and fairly simply at that. The one thing I don't know is compatability and how much drop you can have without clearance issues.

ok...so after all the comments both good and bad, i just decided to go try it. I really dont consider it a "half-ass" way of lowering your sho. I felt it was safe enough and the clearence issues were not as great as anticipated. In addition, this is also very easy to do.

I first broke loose the knucle bolt that holds the strut in.

I then beat the knucle down with a hammer to get an air saw in there,

After that i cut and removed the tab off of the strut so it can move into the knuckle freely.

After all that just put a jack under the knuckle and put the cars weight on it. (use jack stands for safety) and beat on the knuckle with a hammer and it should move up the strut further than it used to be. Make sure to check your CV bott and put the weel on and check before you put it all back together. Make sure you knuckle bolt is very tight also.

I dont want to lower mine too much. I like the amount the eibachs lower(1" in front and 1/2" in back.) Was just wondering if anybody had tried coilovers. Was also wondering how you get the bigger pics on here,it always tells me file was too big.
