My mirror delamination and turn all black. Ford will not replace under CPO warranty and wants $460 bucks to replace. I found part number:
AG1Z-17K707-DD for around $200 bucks and will attempt myself. Does anyone have knowledge or detailed instructions on how to do this grand undertaking? Or know where I can find detailed instructions? Thanks for any help, I am current disabled and financially unable to pay such craziness for a mirror.

Yes, the glass itself has turned completely black. Just for the glass is 237 bucks. Just to replace the glass, Ford wanted 440 dollars plus tax.....

Do you have glass coverage through your insurance?

I had the same issue, and have glass coverage added to my policy. My insurance paid for the replacement, took some persuasions as I don't think they ever had a claim for a side view mirror before, when I stressed safety, they approved. I'm my case, the mirror "pealing" around the edges caused somewhat of a bend to it, so at night I would get a double reflection from cars headlights behind me, made lane changes extra fun, harder to tell how far the car behind you really was.

Anyways, check with your insurance company, they may cover. And in my case at least, no deductible, it was somewhere around $450 total through dealer.

If you have glass coverage, the deductible does not apply. I forget the technical terms, but it falls under a different category.

I will check, not sure I do but worth the call to save 200-450 dollars. I feel it is a safety issue also. I wrote ford a letter how I feel, I only had the car 8 months now and so far it has been in service 3.5 weeks, for a rear differential carrier and axles replacement, PTU replacement, computer tune upgrade, wiper fluid motor, charcoal cannister replacement, fuel pump recall and several other problems I can't think of off top of my head. It is suppose to have a bumper to bumper CPO warranty, I guess pricey 450 dollar mirrors aren't between the bumpers as they hang off the side of the vehicle!

It's classified as a vehicle body part not mechanical. This is why warranty won't cover, mine didn't so that's what led me to think, insurance would cover.

Seems wrong, Ford as well as most carmakers don't do much of anything to help once your past warranty.

I still in the middle of the 12 month or 12,000 mile bumper to bumper CPO warranty. I was told if something wrong with the mirror mechanically they would replace but not the mirror glass......

Personally, I would replace the entire mirror at that cost since it should be the same price. I backed out of the garage a few months ago and broke my mirror. Replaced the entire thing for a hair over $200 if I remember. I do have my old mirror, but the arms are broken on it. If there's a way to separate it so it's glass only, I'm willing to give it a go and it's yours.

Edit: To be clear, the glass itself is fine.

Crap, I just looked at your thread title and you need the drivers side, not the passenger side (that I have). Sorry man!!!

I relooked up my order and I was wrong. It was from Autonation Ford and total shipped was $295.77.

move the mirror to the full up and inward (tword the sky and car) position electrically . Look at the new mirror, there is for tabs at the 1, 5, 7 and 10 o'clock position aproximatly. A long thin shanked flat bladed skew driver will be able to undo 1 or 2 from the bottom and the others should come free. Be careful and take your time. There is a few electrical connections that will need to be transferred once the mirror is separated.

If you screw it up the mirror motor is also serviceable separately from the mirror asembly.
