Recently my driver door lock wouldnt always lock. I would hit the button a couple of times before it would lock. Now it wont lock at all. The actuator makes noise and the door unlocks fine so I dont think the actuator is bad but I could be wrong.?.? When I have time to take the door panel off Im going to take a look inside but what exactly should I be looking for to find out what the problem is?

I bet the plastic gears in the actuator took a crap or the door latch itself is getting bad. More I think about it, the latch is bad.. Did one a week ago for the same problem.

i belieave i am having a similar issue.
I took the Key Part out to see if i could get a key made for it.
I put the piece back in, attached the metal rod to it. but it wont lock. No matter what. I push the stupid pin down on the door, and it still wont lock. I looked in my chilton's and i am browsing the sight, but i dont get it. And i dont really know what it looks like in there. I can see only so much. I find it very important to lock my doors in my neighborhood. Infact, i moved to the City, and dont have it down here for that reason. Any insight?

I think you have crossed the door lock linkage with the latch release linkage. The two rods are tangled inside the door. When you push down on the plunger, it's running into one of the bends in the handle linkage. Remove the door panel, remove the linkage and swing it around the other side of the door handle linkage.

I took a look at the door, and disconnect the rod that goes to the door handle.
It didnt seem to affect it. I mean the lock. Something else is causing the car door to be messed up. But i really dont understand what. All it is, is a couple of rods!
I think it is the plunger at the bottom or something, but ?
