Ok, what type of possible damage could you do from say driving on a rim for a couple hundred feet or so? Snow covered roads. Haven't had a chance to look at the rim really... after lying in the snow throwing the spare on I wasn't much in the mood to really do much with the car. Not to mention the spare was almost flat, and had to limp a few miles to fill it up.

There's a definite grinding type of noise, and I seemed to notice it mostly when going very slowly (taking off from a stop, or slowing down to one). And also with the wheel turned slightly either direction. I'm thinking the wheel bearing is toast. Anything else that might have been damaged? CV Joint?

Thanks for any suggestions. At least I got it home before we got 2 feet of snow tonight. Can't wait to go to work tomorrow. :finger:
Oh yeah and the car slipped of the stupid jack and pinched the nitrous line while I was putting the spare on in the snow. Not sure if it's a goner, I'll have to look at another time. Enough bad stuff for one day...

driving on a rim shouldn't do any real damage to the driveline. Think about it. all you are doing is driving on something other than a tire. Now that said put your car up on jack stands in the garage, have someone start it up and put it in first gear. let the wheels sping reallly slow and turn the wheel back and forth and see if you can isolate the noise. I wouldn't think you did any damage to CV joints or wheel brearings. Unless either was just about gone as it was. Sounds more like you have a bent brake shield that is rubbing on the rotor. I have one that does that if I have the wheel turned to almost full lock when backing up. I am to lazy to fix it, as I won't have the brake shields on there if I get to my gen3 SF project in a few weeks.
