Hey, I just bought a 98 SHO. Every now and then, the car will think the doors are open, even though they are closed. I believe it is the drivers door, but it may be another one. Has anyone ever had an issue with the sensor that tells the car the door is closed? The door latches shut fine, so I don't think it is that mechanism.

Very common in these cars. Most people can get away with spraying the door latch with wd40 and that solves the problem. Sometimes that isn't the case and you have to replace the sensor but that has been known to fail again over time. Crappy engineering on that. Check out v8sho.com. There should be a write up in the care and feeding section.

This happened on my old 96. Sadly WD-40 didn't fix it. The new door switch was surprisingly cheaper from Ford, compared to other part stores. It is not a hard fix, just a huge pain in the ass. You had better be good at working by feel. Good luck!

Good luck. This isn't the only Ford model to suffer from this. It's common across a few platforms.

I have owned Fords for near 20 years now, and this is the first time it has happened to me. I guess I just have gotten lucky.
