I am about ready to kick this car in it's fat SHO ****. I had a problem with the door locks not working at all. After many hours of testing and what not I got them to work (bad wires running to the RKE box in the trunk). Worked fine until we changed the door (old one had a big dent). The door came of a 93 SHO ATX and went on a 93 SHO ATX.

The problem is that when we plugged the switches in, the door locks started trying to constiently lock. I unplugged the switch pretty quick and then rechecked the connections inside the car, everything looks fine. The door was never exposed to the elements. I remember reading about smilar problems but I can't find the thread. FYI this is the front passenger door. Suggestions?

I would take the switch from the old door and put it in the new door and see what happens. Seeing as the only thing that changed was the doors i would start there and then work from there.

The switch was from the old door and I tried another known good one. We pulled the wiring harness out of the old door and plugged it in with the switch attatched and it seems to work fine. I guess the problem is in the wiring harness or hte accutator (spelling?) in the new door. Now the unlock portion of the door locks doesn't work at all...

The contacts inside of the switch are bad or the wiring is wrong. I would check to see if the other door works both unlock and lock that will let you know if it is the wiring. If the other switch works then you can take the switch apart and try to move the contacts inside so that they make contact to complet the circuit. I have done this and fixed all of the switches that i did it to but be carefull that you dont bend the contacts to much couse you can brake them.

I do not know how long this will fix the problem because i have not done this to any of my cars because you are bending parts in the switch it could wear out again.

I don't see how the wiring would be wrong. I did nothing to the wiring inside the door that I swapped in and there is only one way to plug that harness into the car. I changed the RKE box and with the harness out of the old door everything works fine. I unhooked the actuator and plugged everything back in with the "bad" door harness and I get the crazy symptoms. So I came to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the harness itself. I am going to swap that in tomorrow when there is light so I can see.

Thanks for the suggestions and I will post back tomorrow with the results of the "good" harness run into the door.

I have a similar problem with my car. I can unlock all the doors from the passenger side of the car, but I cant lock them from there, And the drivers side unlock/lock button won't function at all. I don't know what the problem is, but it is a real pain to lock all the doors by hand. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it?

Bingo, try repeated clicking a button that "doesnt work" or by pressing harder on it when clicking it. (dont break it of course)

If you find that they work them they are repeatedly pressed or work when pressed on harder, you have some dirty contacts.

I definatly try to clean the switch. Try grounding the unlock wire (pink w/ green or yellow) directly. If that doesn't work you could have a bad wire going to the box in the trunk. This car that I am working on now had both the unlock & lock wires going to the trunk bad. So the box in the trunk wasn't seeing the ground coming from the switches. That was a PIA to find.

If my car doesn't have factory keyless entry, would it still have a box in the trunk?

Yes, the box controls the door locks and the interior lights. I am not positive that it works by grounding the wires like the RKE box. Jelloslug (shoforum member) would know for sure.

Anyway I figured out some extremely useful info in this endevor. The wiring in the doors is different between the cars with RKE and the cars without. The part numbers did NOT match between the two door harnesses. So I swapped in the harness today and everything works great.

I ran into the same problem with I did a LF door swap on a 90 from a car without the keyless entry. Same symptoms, the locks would lock and nothing would cause them to unlock. Changing the wiring harness back to the old door harness with KE fixed the problem.
