I've got a '91 + that I'm going to get painted soon. I was going to remove the body cladding today and start REALLY cleaning the car, but I can't figure out how to get it off of the door once I get all the "acorn" nuts off from the inside. Help! I searched and nobody had the same problems that I do!

Quadmasta,

Front door molding. - Accross the top of the SHO molding there are two acorn nuts, one at each end. Between the nuts there are 7 plastic clips with pins that push into plastic bushings.

Across the bottom of the door there are four acorn nuts.

Rear door - top side of molding 2 acorn nuts, one at each end, and five clips with pins that push into bushings.

Across the bottom of the molding are 4 acorn nuts.

The push pins should be gently pryed out of the bushings. They are a "friction" fit.

Check your metal retainers for corrosion.

The rocker moldings are held on with rivets. Some are plastic rivits that can be extracted, other are metal "pop" rivets that have to be drilled out.

Work at it slow and easy. A Helm manual will show you approximately where the fasteners are located. The diagrams are not very good though.

Hope this helps. rangerj

You should plan on having replacement bushings ready for the snap fasteners. I say this as each time (3 in total) that we've removed the cladding on my SHO, most of the bushings would break and were not reusable. Of course, you could always have better luck!

I had time today to get all the door moldings off and the passenger's side rocker cover. I'll get the driver's side rocker cover off tomorrow. Can't you get the little plastic screw things from Advance Auto in the HELP section?

Yes, they have stuff like that there. If you cannot find the exact plastic piece in the "HELP" section try an automotive paint store, they have a much larger selection of those kind of things.
