Well isnt this a hum dinger.

I was on the Mass Pike today and my engine started to make a rapping sound. I pulled over and after putting it into park it died on me and wouldn't start.

Had it towed to a ford dealer(big misstake)
Charged me 100 bucks to say I blew atleast one cam, dont know how many cylanders are bad, Head needs rebuilding and a crank bareing.

The funny part is they dissovered all this in 5 mins with 6 techs standing in front and not one of them use4d a hand/power tool or any type of meter.
They all played the guessing game.

What did I get out of this.
AAA had to wait for 2 hours while they replaced a recall part on the car before letting leave the shop.

I just put over $4500 in part and labor into the car too.

You "blew a cam"? I'd ask them to open the car up in front of you with that diagnosis. The engine's a non-interference design. You can throw a shim, but more than likely you spun a bearing more than "blew a cam".

Please, do us the favor of posting more details about this episode, because it sounds like you're being bent over by idiots.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

WHY?!??!?!! headbang . I would rather pay semi-retarted catfish to perform open heart sugery on me than let the dealer even talk about my SHO.

BTW it sounds like you spun a rod bearing, drop the oil pan and give it a looksie.

I'll second that. I've found a ton of crap on my SHO that the dealer broke putting in the clutch. Not to mention that they never bothered to fix the cable adjuster and let the previous own drive it around like that. Who knows how much of my tranny life is lost due to that. Fools...

Well any Idea what I will be looking at to get it fixed?
I have found out by the mass emails that this is the best way to get hold of you NESHOS.
I had it towed from the MASS Pike Millbury west bound.
It was towed to the closest rerpair shop which was Millbury Ford.

I had AAA tow it to my parents place 50 miles away just north of Boston.

Naturally you'll need someone who knows what they're doing to take a look at it, but from the sounds of it you need a new motor. frown

I know exactly where Millbury Ford is - Route 20 near the 290/395 ramps, across from Home Depot. You're literally about 10 minutes from us at that point. Route 20 West to 56 North to 9 West from there. Hop, skip, jump.

So, the car's not at Millbury Ford anymore, though, right? If you decide to open it up at your place, take some pictures as you get under the cam covers - we'll all be able to clue you in on anything out of the ordinary.

OMG... That semi-******** catfish thing is the funniest thing I've heard ALL DAY! The SHO is pretty much the bastard son of modern day Ford (not like the Edsel, but almost j/k) I think a Honda dealership would be a better place to take our cars. Anyways, I think you'd be best off at NESS, or take Beth up on the 3.0 or look around for antoher and drop it in. Sorry about what happened, though. You can tell you threw a rod bearing because the sound it makes is like money going down a drain...
