Doing rear struts

Ok I will try that then. I will stick a normal socket on it and hit it with the air gun. When putting the new units together do you do it the same way? If so is there anyway to torque them down to make sure they are good to go? I will use some loctite on them as well.

Yup air gun back in , no locktite needed cose the coil pressure press the bolt upwards , its never gonna loose itself.

When you unbolt with gun , go with your gun : on-off-on-off , and so on , the first kick it gives is what you need. Try that WITHOUT vise grips , use them on a last resort.

Like I said, I used a pipe wrench on the old ones to hold the shaft. Wasn't going to reuse them so why worry about the scratches? You won't need it putting the new one on as it'll be nice and new and clean.
