*UPDATE*
just got back from a solid 12 hour task of tearing into the MTX. after opening up the case, i found nothing wrong. all gears, shafts, bearings, synchros, and blocking rings looked good. puzzled, i buttoned the case back together. i attempt to stab the input shaft thru the clutch disc and it goes *THUNK*. i try again, now it goes *THUD*..hmmm.. ok, lets tear the clutch apart. oh Woe Is Me....clutch disc has shattered. no big deal, bought from A-Z with a lifetime warranty, got a new one, resurfaced the flywheel, ran out of money, put it back together.

my dad helped me cause i wanted to get it done. i thank him and also all those involved at the General Motors, Arlington plant (even though theyll never see this) for letting me use their space, tools, machines, and employees. i offered the welders and machinists who worked with me some compensation and they all said, "hey man, im on the clock !" LOL. it was pretty cool to be working on my Ford, look up, and see a Cadillac Escalade roll by on its way to Trim.

all in all, it was a good day, and the SHO is back on the road.....
*************************

welp, im prolly gonna hate myself. had an output shaft seal leaking. i knew it was leaking, i was keeping a close eye on it. so, today, i fill up the tank with gas, and head to A-Z to get a seal and ATF. no biggie, its all within half a mile of my house. i get done at A-Z, decide to go eat. on my way back, i hear the awful sound of bearings disintegrating, and the SHO comes to a stop. it was odd, i could actually feel it thru the floorboard. im guessing i ran the main shaft bearings dry and they went away on me. oh well, ill dig into it on a couple months when i pull the motor out....hmmm...*insert buttkicking here*

Dale, I am sorry to hear about the misfortune. I replaced the CV shafts and one transaxle seal this weekend with some intersting observations on my experiences. I had one axle seal leaking after my clutch and transaxle service two years ago. I replaced the driver side seal only to have it leak worse than before. I made a tool and used a little engineering to help install the seal without damaging it. Read about it in this topic.

i read it Scott. as always, youre very informative with your posts. i, too, had troubles installing the seals when i did my clutch last May. and just back in December, i switched to Tokicos and Cargo Coils. i stressed the CV joints quite a bit, and thats prolly what made the seal leak. i am also going to replace both half shafts when i drop the new motor in. i feel/hear the familiar sound of CV joints going bad. ill definitely use your info to install the new seal, cause i know they are a tight fit. Thanks for your reply.

hahahaha, i need a very big wallet or a very deep pocket....hahaha, oh well....
I was more referring to if you needed help in finding parts or whatever. Some of the parts you may need will be difficult if not impossible to find, a few of which I may have or could lead you to someone who does have. My services may not be free, but my help and advice is.
