I was just thinking about this, but do the SHO's hold up better over the years than the L, GL, LX models? My 1990 came from Florida and has VERY little rust, even at almost 180K (and she runs/drives like a champ!!) I have noticed that some the reg. GEN I's rust up like swiss cheese. Mine has been repainted once but it needs to be repainted again, damn! Also, were Gen I SHO's the only Tauruii with black interior?

I would think that the SHOs age better simply because they are owned by enthusiasts these days... I mean.. look at the majority of the SHOs... They all are taken well care of.

As for the interior, Ford stopped making the Black interior in 93. So some Gen 2s have them. (wish mine did)

well yeah I hear ya, plus with a base price of 20K I'd baby it too! I like my black 50/50 interior, wouldn't want the full leather unless I had seat warmers, lol

Well you have to look also, that, you live in the rust belt. Cars down here last. Its not uncommon for ppl to drive 60's and 70's cars her all year as daily drivers.

There is a guy that lives here that drives an Edsel everyday, plus he has 2 Linc Town Cars also at his house.
Also, there is an old guy here that drives a 55 Nomad everyday,Rare car but he told me he bought it in 1960 and has been driving it ever since.

Up north your climate changes so much and ours down here in FLA stays pretty much the same all year.
