I need to disconnect the positive terminal on the battery to replace the terminal cover. Will this cause problems with the computer?

Disconnect the negative first. You may lose some settings (radio, etc.) but that should be it. Only way to prevent that is with one of those "memory minders" basically a 9v battery with a cigarette lighter plug. It back-feeds power into the system for a short period of time.

Sadly I need to do this too, what I dislike very much is the cap is a relatively reasonable price, but the $250000000 for shipping kills me every time. Oh and my local dealerships dont have it in stock.

I found the part for $9.95 and the shipping was $9.59
Update: Sadly the part they sent did not fit my car. There is no separate pos post cover available for a SHO with PP. The parts guy told me the only way to get the pos post cover was to buy the complete wiring harness for $$$, or go to ebay and or a JY and see if they have a wreck that they are parting out. There is a circuit breaker assembly, DA8Z14526A that includes the cover and from what I can tell, it looks the same as the one on the SHO. It's around $55 new at most online Ford dealers.
