Hi, How bad is it to put in a starter on the 93 with 3.2?
They want 320, and the part is 100+ at the store, I'm thinking I can do it myself cause it's probably three bolts maybe. Do you have to take anything else off to just replace the starter??

Do it yourself. Disconnect the battery terminal and be careful with the wiring on the starter solenoid.
Not a lot of fun because you are on your back on the floor, but just keep thinking about the $350.00.

so it is easy?? I did starters like on ford fair lanes and econoline van and chevy v6 about 20 years ago, no problem. Is the Yamaha design still simple down there where the starter is mounted?

It's pretty straightforward, much like replacing any other starter on a Ford. And you don't have to remove anything else to get to the starter, its just somewhat of a tight space laying on your back for a while. But like sperold said, just think about the money you are saving as you're down there and you'll feel a little better!

Me happy!!, I thought it probably was but I didn't feel like lying down in a foot of snow to look and see, I'll go buy the starter today and when the weather breaks...Like freakin JULY!!, I'll dust off my creeper and do it myself. Nothin like cranking it over when you fixed it yourself
THnkas very much for replies

The only things I let shops do to my SHOs are Tire mounts, Alignments, and exhaust work. Anything else you are better off doing it yourself. Nothing is too difficult on these cars.
