My driver's side halfshaft is stuck in the tranny and no amount of prying will break it loose. I'm afraid of busting the tranny case if I pry any harder.

I've got access to a machine shop and plenty of scrap steel, and would like to make one of these:

Anybody know the approximate diameter of the long diff pin (MTX)? I need to mill out a notch on the tool to clear it.

Thanks,
Nate

prying never works for me, either. I have a smallish crowbar that I put between the cv housing and the case. A medium-light tap with a 3lb sledge hammer pops it right out.

A steady pry will not get it out, I usually just use a 10" bar and with a quick snap they pop right out.

the same diameter as the 2 short diff pins, which will be in the path of the tools two tangs. I suspect that tool won't work in SHO trannies. there is a cage in there too.
'bout 16mm for the pins

Thanks for the insight.. I couldn't tell exactly what was in the way before, but now I see I would have surely hammered on the wrong parts with this kind of tool!

Guess I'll need to invest in a bigger crowbar and a hammer, per the above recommendations. Thanks to everyone.

Nate
