Yes there are SHO's without moonroofs. They weigh 25-30 lbs less, don't rattle, don't squeak, have a stiffer roof structure, have more headroom, and don't have near the windnoise from the roof area

Also on the gen1 cars, you get overhead grab handles with no moonroof.

92 SHO (moonroof)
89 SHO (no moonroof) now down to 3075 lbs!

2 out of 3 of mine have no moonroof. I wonder if there is a breakdown or percentage that have them?

Yup, I have one without a moonroof/sunroof. As a matter of fact the ONLY option my car has is the ATX.

You forgot to mention that the cars without moonroofs don't have leaks.

Mine doesn`t leak or rattle, and my button is like new.I just had it apart and i really can`t even se how they break.
The drivers side doesn`t have a handle because you are expected to have both hands on the wheel.

Good point 1slickRED89. Sometimes I scare the $hit out of myself, I think "oh $hit handles" would give me way too much confidence. (hehehehe)

We have an '89 Light Titanium with 190k and a sun/moon roof. It had leaks when owned by my father (who bought it new), he had it fixed and it never leaked again. Now I am left with a really &$**#@ looking shade...it has the flocked sort of coating that matches the interior and it's peeling away all over one side. Don't know if it's removable so I can just get it all off and then re spray it or what.

Other than that we love having the roof and Randy is 6' tall and has no problem with head room as long as he moves the seat all the way down after I've been driving (since I'm 5'3", I like to hike it all the way up). There is also no more noticeable wind noise from the sunroof than from the door seals on the A-pillars, and it helps to pull the shade when cruising as it cuts down on the noise.

Good luck!
