My 89 had the seats swapped by the original owner, car was factory full leather dual power set up(window sticker). Car has gen II gray leather seats in it when I bought it from the original owner. Guessing the cool perforated leather interior crapped out.

Anyhow I noticed that the leather is drying out, despite all the leather conditioner I've been rubbing into the seats, it was kinda dry when I bought the car, but still in good shape. The seams on the top of the rear seat are splitting cause the leather is shrinking, ripping the thread.

A few years ago in the junk yard I grabbed the entire 50/50 mint gray interior out of a 94. I have never seen seats in such good shape. Even drivers bolster looks new. PLus it was a special 50% off weekend on interior parts, so it was a total score.

Would gray 50/50 gen II seats look good in an 89? Any opinions? I'm thinking of swapping this weekend. Only thing that sucks is the gen II gray is a bit off from the 89 titanium interior.

We have 50/50 gen2 gray in our 'newer' to us red89. -(thanx Tom)-
Looks OK, just I know its not original & I like the look better of the 1st gen style seats in full leather=the perf & stitching! BUT the 50/50 gen2 seat is much more comfortable than the full leather gen1!

I am sure it would look fine. I have black 50/50 Gen I seats in my GenII, looks fine.

Honestly, it takes all of 20 minutes to swap all your seats. Put them in and see if you like it. If you don't put whats in there now back in. If the full leather Gen II seats look good, I don't see why 50/50 wouldn't.

Looks fabulous, you were right about it being a good score.
Try Lexol leather conditioner on your older seats if you want to try and save them. You have to buy it direct from their website.
I have a hard time determining what is leather and what is vinyl on car seats, so I never know if I am putting the right stuff on whatever I am treating.
I have to say though..... that I really like the gen 1 seats with the wingback look of the rear seat that dips down in the center for access to your storage tray. But that is just me.

HeY Sam, i pulled the seats out of my storage shed. Cleaning them up. They are a bit dry but think with some leather conditioner will be fine. Going to run the bissel machine on the cloth tonight. Im still thinking about which ones i want to use in my car. The only defects are on the drivers side the top corner of the bolster on the inside is a the leather pulling away from the fabic maybe a quarter inch triangle. Both of the seats panels where the switches go are :sun:broken but i had planned on using mine anyway. I also have some mocha seat skins but they arnt the best. Tell your dad and let him make me an offer. Ill take some pics for you later.

By the way you need to clean out your mail box, i couldnt send this as a pm
