Damn Power Steering

This DAMN SHO

I have not been driving it much trying to keep the milage down. Anyway I get in it recently and the damn power steering has a squeal when turning either direction. Also, after about one turn the steering gets stiff then releases then stiff then releases. For example if I were to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left about halfway there it starts this.. then stops till I can't turn the wheels any farther. I am not even moving forward and it does it. After a certain number of turns it frees up and no longer does it until I return to center and try it again. This happens whether I am moving or not.

Hav you checked the power steering fluid level and the belt tension? It sounds like you are losing power assist. If it is either of these causing your problem, that would be a maintenance responsibility of yours to satisfy before you threaten the unfortunate and unkept car.

Oh so cruel....

I appreciate the feedback. However, I have put thousands into this car since I bought it ..so neglected it ain't. I am just not a very car savy guy. Therefore it frustrates the crap out of me because I have to take it somewhere to be fixed. If I could fix it myself I wouldn't be so frustrated.
