Studly dood
Had our first event after the summer break last Sunday. This is the first time the Pumpkin's been on the track since the night event in June where I only got a couple of warm-up laps. That problem turned out to be a VSS wire I inadvertently pulled apart when I fixed a faulty heater hose. Apparently there's some bizarre strategy in the ATX 'puter that shuts the motor off at 6krpm if there's sufficient load and no VSS signal and no tranny feedback.
Anyway, had a very interesting day. The ABS crapped out when I added an auxiliary rad fan (Roush's aux fan circuit uses the switched ABS power to drive a relay, but I can't find anything wrong in that circuit), and the tranny pump crapped out. Neither keeps me off the track, although the lack of ABS may have slowed me down a little bit in T6 and the carousel, just because you can't be quite so bold going in there without it.
So here's the vid, 13 or so minute's worth:

Some stuff in the vid:
The Studebaker is awesome. They were shaking it out for some endurance rally in Mexico. 3300lbs or so, a nice, well-built V8, pretty much how you'd build a modern race car if you were starting with a Studebaker. The only glass was the windshield, which I though was a little odd, not even lexan for a rear window or sides. Maybe they're doing that later, I dunno. It's a gorgeous car, I always liked the styling on that model, and it appeared to be
very nicely built and prepped everywhere.
I'm considering moving up to TTC next year since it's the only way I can get rid of some more weight and do anything to the motor (like EH, BBBs, 3.0 cam, etc.). I kept a long-ish section in the vid where I'm following a white 350Z, which is a TTC car and very well driven. That guy would likely be my main competition. Because we're getting so many cars in TT (36 this vent), and because there's been some low-level grousing going on about various competitors, we were all required to get weighed at the track. My car was 3445 lbs with me and 3/4 tank, and Ed's white 350Z was 3449 lbs, and he has about 70chp more than I do. His fast lap of the day was about a second and a half faster than mine, so I got some work to do if I do change classes.
