Just today I started driving and my 1-2 shift took forever. My car waited until ~6k to shift when it will usually shift around 3 or 4k. Im thinking this is a slippage in the tranny. If Im wrong let me know because the thought of $2500 right now is frankly horrifying. Would a flush and filter change help or hurt? I have heard that flushing can make things worse. But also if you run the cleaner/conditioner it may help. Im reaching out here! I need help, if it's going to die is there any way to delay the inevitable?

Thanks
Matt

Flushing may help. Changing the filter may help. But the ATX's are notorious for problems. I certainly hope a rebuild is not in order, but if it is take it to a reputable shop for your SHO's sake and for the sake of your wallet.

As for damage to the tranny with a flush and new fluid...it's debatable as to whether it'll hurt it or not. If it's been properly maintained from the git-go, then I'd say do it. At this point I think your better bet is to get it into a shop to have it looked at.

Flushing will buy you some time, but I would suggest just biting the bullet on a rebuild. You will have to purchase all new fluid anyways when your tranny finally does go and burns up the fluid. That way you won't waste the money on fresh fluid you are gonna burn up shortly...

Get this now....I unplugged my TPS and the tranny shifts HARD...like if I do it manually it shifts NOW! So Im starting to think it was the TPS that was causing the "slipping" and was only me thinking it was slipping?

Sounds like the typical problem you get with the factory programming. I received and installed my LPM from Ted last night and: WOW! The difference in the shifting is NIGHT and DAY. One of the problems with the stock factory programming is the shifting on the ATX, slow and "comfortable". I've also heard that the throttle position often causes slow/bad shifting on the ATX, which can be mistaken for slippage.

Jeremy had a good idea, but I think a rebuild is premature in your case. Examine what you can, check the fluid, and if it still acts up, then take it to a shop. Don't just go get a rebuild just because it's acting up. :)
