Cruise Control Blues

Its been inop for the time I have had the car, 4 years. When I bought it it would work but only on flat ground, as soon as the road began to incline it would crap out. I never had it looked at and eventually it completely gave out. Anyone else had this problem????? Im about to take a trip down to GA again (Christmas at my folks) Its about a 8-10 hour trip and I have done it numerous times w/o it, but I am getting lazy and want it back. HELP me please. I dont wanna spent 75 bucks just to have someone look at it just to tell me they are gunna charge me more to fix it.

I had a slightly similar problem. It would work fine, then crap out. I had noticed a hissing sound from under the steering column whenever the cruise was set, and upon investigation, found a vacumn line rubbing on the steering linkage with a hole worn in it. Replaced the hose, and all has been fine since.

Vaccum leak? Isn't the 94 a elctronic system w/no vacuum lines?

Correct, the ATX cruise has no vacuum connection whatsoever. Check your codes for a VSS code. Short of that, it's usually a clockspring, control button, deactivator switch, or servo problem.

If that doesn't point you in the right direction we'll do some other tests of components. Hang on to your $75.
