Has anyone ever had a cracked block that leaks coolant all over? I just bought a 91 this weekend with a leak from the 'lower rad hose area' and it's definately not the hose. I tore apart the front of the motor to see if it was the water pump gasket, and it's not that either. When i presurize the system, i can see it coming from right below the front head, behind the waterpump somewhere. I haven't pinpointed the leak yet, but tonight I'll rip more stuff apart so I can pinpoint. I've never heard of a SHO block cracking though. I'm hoping it's the tube that goes from the waterpump to the lower hose.........

Any information/similar experiences greatly appreciated. Thanks.

did you check the o-rings on the crossover tube that goes from the water pump to the tstat housing between the heads?

Actually, it was a freeze plug. The weird spots you can find those! It was right behind the water pump below the right head (front of car). So i'm going to replace all of the freeze plugs on the front of the motor, and then when I pull the trans, I'll do all of the freeze plugs back there too! The coolant had so much brown sludge in it, it's really surprising it has a brand new rad, and they didn't flush it out when they did it! That's why it's a good idea to flush your cooling system every couple of years!
