I would put the car up on a lift or some jack stands and put a filter wrench on it. Slide a hollow pipe around the handle of the wrench to increase the torque on the filter and give 'er ****. When you put the new one on, make sure that hand tight + 1/3 turn is all that is needed.

The oil in the plug wells is about as common for SHOs as white is on rice. (How do ya like that one? Eh? I made that one up all by myself :p) You will need to buy a new set of valve cover gaskets as well as 6 plug well seals. Also, you will need a new intake gasket. Pull the intake, unscrew both valve covers and replace the seals. Its about as easy as can get. Estimated time to completion for a newb sho owner is a good 2 hours. :) Nothing major...

http://www.shophoenixproject.com/upper60k/upper60k.htm here is a detailed step by step procedure for removing the intake. After the intake is off, just use a 5mm allen wrench on the valve cover bolts. Be careful to not strip these bolts as they will be a PITA to unbolt after stripped.

One last thing, in the link, it says that you should remove the hood before doing anything else. This is by far, not necessary so you can forget that step. Any questions remaining, feel free to post. :thumb:

Advance is usually the most expensive, autozone has them, along with rockauto, and so does RCM.

Make sure you clean all the oil out and all the grit in there before you remove the spark plug - you don't want that stuff getting into the combustion chamber.

Well now that i finally got to start the car again after all my work with the Upper 60k when i start the engine it runns 10x better and sounds alot better to. But how ever when the motor runs for longer then maybe 2 mins WHite Smoke comes out of the exhaust does that mean a blow head gasket or what i dunno i might of made a couple steps for word but it might of just made me take a couple back.

I'll ahve a video up in about like 10 15 mins

Are you sure that its white smoke? Looks a little blue to me.

White smoke is coolant and the only way that could get into the combustion chamber is through a bad head gasket. If its blue, you could have bad rings or bad valve seals. You can check for bad rings by running a compression check. Bad valve seals show themselves by blue smoke on a cold start up or at high rpms... When they get real bad, they could leak all the time. Did it ever smoke before?

Is this right on startup? Could be running really rich on the cold startup.

Noo its about 4 mins after i start it up and let it site on idle and then small traces of smoke start then it looks just how it looks in the video, with a constant flow.

Did you let all the oil that was in the spark plug wells go into the combustion chamber? Or did you properly remove all the oil and grit out of the wells before you removed the spark plugs? If you let it all drain back into the cylinders then the oil is just burning out that you let it all drain out....

I was thinking the very same thing. If not, check your oil for any signs of coolant in it. Although I doubt its a bad head gasket.

Well their was alittle bit of oil that went down the holes but i dunno should of been a ton....when i fist started the car their was alot of smoke that came out but now its just continous. The car has 170,000 miles on it i dunno what i could be. I'm gona take the manifold off again cause i think the rear Valve Gasket screwed up when ever i tryed 2 put in on. Ether that or i'm just gonna let it run for like 10 mins.

You let all the oil and grit that was in the spark plug wells into the combustion chamber, causing the smoke, along with scoring the cylinder walls.

You just need to drive it and the oil will burn out of the combustion chamber, and the smoke will stop.

It would have been much better for the engine to get all the oil out of the wells before you removed the spark plugs....

With 170K, I would sure be changing the rod bearings, if they haven't been done.

As far as the smoke, I'm guessing you need to find a rural road, and flog it.

well i got about 90% of the oil out of the pluge holes but i couldn't get the rest out because i don't have a compresser to blow the air out of the holes. I would take it drivin but the fact that the Clutch is basically gone and theirs no brakes don't really help haha. The Rod barings are gonna eb changed when i get the engine pulled to put the new clutch in.
