2011 non-PP SHO w/ 160,000 miles. Last week I had my electric power steering rack and CV shafts replaced by a local shop. When I got the car back, it started dropping in idle from 700-800 RPM's down to about 400-500 RPM's at times but didn't notice an issue while driving. After driving about 50 miles, I hammered put it to the floor out of a toll booth where it threw a P0016 and a P052B code for crankshaft and camshaft timing (First gues was stretched timing chain). On my way driving home, the car shut off and the oil light flashed on the dash display. Checked the oil in the dark which was okay, and drove it the 2 miles home.
After letting the car sit overnight, I checked the oil again and it was quite high and very milky (coolant in the oil possibly?), and the coolant was low as well.
Here are the questions I'm asking myself:
- First thought is a bad oil cooler, but why would camshaft and crankshaft timing codes pop up?
- Could the mechanic who replaced the EPS rack, accidentally removed or damaged a hose when he replaced the rack?
