I apologize if this question has been asked before. The search did not turn up any relevant threads on the subject.

Anyhow, my question is straight and two-fold: Is it possible and/or feasible to convert the EATC system in the SHO (a Gen 2, specifcially) to the manual "****" system used in the '89s and SLO models? If so, has any one ever done this? I've been kicking around the idea of converting my system for some time now, but wanted to gather some forum input on the subject before I do any additional research or part hunting.

The two main obstacles you would have to consider is the blend door module as well as the blower control module. It is possible to hard wire the fan, but as far as the blend door module you would have to see how it is actuated on the non-EATC units. Anything is possible, just depends on how much of a PITA you want to deal with.

I saw a green 92 for sale once that had a manual HVAC (knobs) instead of an auto one. At least with the 89 one, the blend door uses a cable that runs up to the temp ****. So you'd need that.

Yeah, my car is a serious stripper. It doesn't have power antenna either. I'm very curious to see what it weighs.

hehe, I knew the blower control module would need changing after my last trip to the dealer. He handed me the BCM for the manual system and told me to try it out. Once I got out to my car, I realized that it wasn't at all the same part. :D

So the blend door actuator/cable and blower module are the only things we can think of so far? Hmm... methinks I'll have to go digging for some diagrams of the manual and electronic HVAC systems to see if there's anything else. Surely it's not as simple as changing those two parts and doing some rewiring, or is it? shrug
