IMPORTANT NEWS

We are now just 60 days away from the convention, and we have 40 registrations. We have less than half of the number it will take to break even at the Grattan event, and about 1/3 of the cars it will take to break even at the drags.

If you are planning on going, or know those that plan on going and do not have your registration in yet, then get them in before the 24th of May (THIS MONTH) or I will have to cancel the convention entirely.

Last year we made the event very low cost to entice people to come, and we had a lower than expected turnout. With the high gas prices this year, we cannot take the chance that everyone will finally send in their forms at the end of June when we are committed to many thousands of dollars of hotel and track expenses.

So if you want this event to happen and have not gotten your forms and payment in yet, get it in in the next few days.

All the forms are on the web site, and anyone that went to the last few conventions or is a member of SHOclub, got them in the mail last year. You can FAX forms to 309-444-4795.

Forms are here:

If payment right now is a problem, then just post-date your check or ask me not to charge a credit card till later. I must do this by June 30th so that is as late as you can pay.

I am not kidding, we can't take a chance on late registrations this year, the cost is just too high to go into an event like this without at least a chance to break even. And that is all we have ever asked. If we made any profit in years past, that went back into the event. We lost a lot last year with low turnout and low pricing, and can't do that again. We kept the pricing more realistic this year, but by no means will we make much money if we get a bigger than normal turnout. I still kept prices very reasonable for this quality of an event.

Very few clubs of much larger size have this type of event. If this one is canceled I will have to work with the Seattle in 08 and NorthEast in 09 groups to see what will happen, but for sure we won't plan on a typical event, tracks will probably be out unless we can hook up with someone else and have no financial exposure. Future years are in real danger if this one doesn't make it.

I don't like the idea of canceling the event, but I hope everyone understands. If we do cancel, everyone that has paid will have their forms and payment returned and since we have cashed some checks and run a few credit cards, those people will get a full refund.

Now or never folks.
