Who from New England is driving to the convention this year? Is there already a date set for a caravan to drive to Chicago?

I haven't been since 2010, but in the past Kirk always had a caravan of 4 or 5 cars. Just hadn't seen anything yet. Maybe we can get a few and all go the same time.

Kirk's coming early, leaving Friday I believe for a sat evening arrival.

I was planning on leaving Friday also, I'll probably pass him on the way down.

Tim? Wow, good to see you're coming. What are you bringing this year?

I don't think there's been much caravaning from the North East in the last few conventions. Chris moved down to St Louis and joined the mullet crew (Transmarobirds). Kirk has been doing U-Ships along the way so it doesn't work with caravans. Everybody else has moved on too.

was most of one last year, I think more or less started SE somewhere and at least from Chicago year before to Denver, but can't remember if he had anythingup to Chicago

Hi Ian, long time. I'll know today if the car will be in on time to go to the convention. I am looking for any info on the best route to take from the northeast to Chicago with the least amount of traffic to the hotel. I here there's allot of bad areas and allot of traffic jams I would like to avoid.

Kirk is leaving at 4 am Sat, running straight through for a 9 pm arrival, a beef samich, a beer then bed.
Tim, It all depends on what day and time of day.
Option 1 avoid the most traffic, take 80 west past Chicago then 355 North to Schaumburg/Elk Grove Area exit Higgins head east = most miles least sitting still if any.
Option 2 my preferred way 80 to 294 north to 90 west going around east and north side of O'Hare Airport, exit Elmhurst road south and 5 min from hotel.
Option 3 Best if after 7pm through 6 am. 80 to 94 North right through the heart of downtown (Milwaukee) then split west on 90 toward Rockford/O'Hare and exit Elmhurst rd south, 2nd exit past O'Hare.
#3 is Kirks route, doesn't mind a little traffic and you can look at the Skyline, just don't break down, wreck or run out of gas.
Be logical, I cant predict every event Cubs/Sox/Taste of Chicago/Blues fest/accident that can screw any of these up. Just stay in the left lane and keep up and you will be fine.

I might be interested in following Kirk on Saturday morning. It will remind me of old times. He doesn't wait around for anything and gets where he needs to get. He keeps me awake with his off sided humor. I can honestly say he made most of the drives to past conventions memorable!

Sorry to say that I did not get the sho that I was trying to get. I won't be going this year but hopefully next year. This does suck!
