Hello, this is my first post here. I recently decided I wanted to upgrade my car, from a 2012 Fusion SEL to something with a stronger engine, more tech features, etc. I have always liked the looks the of the Taurus, and the thought of getting a SHO was something I thought of, but never thought I could afford one.
I have been researching cars a lot lately, and was thinking about the new Ford Edge Sport with the twin turbo V6. While shopping in the area, I came across a ruby 2015 SHO with the Performance Package, and with rebates, and discounts, it was around $37,000 which is quite a bit less than the Edge I was considering.

I know they are totally different, and I am not sure I necessarily want a crossover, I would like a vehicle with more oomph, more fun. I am just wondering what your thoughts are on getting a SHO now, compared to vehicles around the same price for quality and value. I am also wondering about the Sync system, as I know it will be upgraded to the new Sync 3 at some point.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

In all honesty the Edge is a great car and I think you would be happy with it if you decide to go that way. However, my advice is to pull the trigger on the SHO if you can. You will not be disappointed. 8 days ago I traded in my 2013 Ford Edge for a 2015 SHO non pp. You will love the SHOs engine, how it handles and the technology. I do miss the utility of the Edge and the fact that you do not have to bend over to load/unload items. The SHO does have a huge trunk and you can always find a buddy or family member with a pickup or crossover if you need to make a run to Home Depot that the SHO can not accommodate.

Thanks DMB...I am seriously thinking about it....It is almost $10,000 of MSRP. I have a friend who is not exactly anti-Ford, but he keeps pushing me towards other vehicles such as the Acura TLX or RDX if I went crossover....the Charger....Impala....the new Maxima...Avalon....etc....I know that whenever I see a Taurus around, it always grabs my attention.
I initially was thinking of the new Fusion Titanium with the 2.0 ecoboost....it was stronger than my engine, but it just didn't have the oomph I thought it would....

The awesome deals Ford has is what drew me to the SHO as well. I almost got a Lincoln, but the dealer I was going through did not stand by what they quoted me in writing. I walked away and they tried to call my bluff. In the end it worked in my favor.

There are a lot of great deals on full size sedans right now because hardly anyone is buying them except rental car companies. If people want fuel economy they will go with a compact or midsized and if people want utility than they will go with a crossover. Plus why buy a mid to upper 40k ford sedan, when for just a little bit more money you can get a 5 series or A6? I believe all oems that compete in this market are faced with this issue.

The new Impala is a nice car, but not a true competitor to the SHO. The Chevy SS is more closely related. I would stay away from anything FCA makes. They advertise/market and style cars well, but in the end they make a poor product and you will be wasting your money. No personal experience with the Acuras, but everyone I know that has changed to a Honda is happy with it.

Best of luck with your decision and you won't regret pulling the trigger on the SHO.

I went through the same delimma, but the incentives on the SHO was the deciding factor for me.
I'm very pleased with how the Edge has turned out. PD spent a lot of effort making it the best one yet.
If you're looking at the sport trim, they start at the same price as the SHO, but you will undoubtedly want a few options. Awd, electronics, etc. You'll be looking at $45-$48k real quick.

Thanks J5V....I just need to go test drive it. The trouble is the dealership is close to two hours away from me, west of Ft. Worth. I came out of the theater today after seeing the new Mission Impossible flick, and what should drive right by me but a black SHO....It looked sharp.
