ok, my '93 MTX with 104k miles had the tradiational 'sluggish when cold' problem - pulling away (slowly) when the engine was cold (had been idling for 30 seconds or so) would be sluggish, slow, and would feel like it was going to stall out. this is new with the recent change to colder (below freezing) weather here in Michigan.

I took three steps to correct this problem. First, I dumped in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner - I had recently replaced my fuel pump/filter and figured they were probably kinda dirty, seeing as they haven't been cleaning in around 50k miles.

Second, I cleaned the filaments in the electronics package of my MAF per Scott's procedure.

Third, I reset my computer per Scott's procedure (disconnect battery, leave lights on for 10 minutes, reconnect battery, start, let idle for 15-20 seconds, turn on all loads, let sit for a few minutes, run through entire performance range).

My question is: is fuel injector cleaner bad in any way for the engine? I can't imagine so, as popular of a product as it is. Does anyone specfically recommend it or recommend against it and for what reasons? It's a little late now, but I'm just wondering nonetheless.

Thanks,
mrr

I'm glad you corrected your driveability problem. My procedure states to let the engine idle for at least 30 seconds before adding the loads, but you should be okay.
