Coilover's?

ok what the difference between these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7926021518&category=33590 and the ones from midwest, other than the price. cause if that all i would have to buy, then i might get those. im still debating, should i finish off with the monroe sen. in the rear, i already got them in the front, and then get ALSFB's, a Hbrace, STB's, and SFC. i know that it will come out cheaper in the end, but if i can get a set of coilovers, that are worth it it, then i might do that. im still unsure though. i want to do option one, cause it seems to be the better of the two. any suggestions, on the coilovers, and my suspension mods?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the coilover kit that mikey sells is just indeed a "kit" that you have to add the struts to yourself. It doesn't say that they come with struts at all.

The IPT set listed there on ebay, comes with the koni's already installed and the stiffer Eibachs as well.

BTW, if you use buy it now...I will deliver them at the run...

oohh.. uuhh... hi. i didnt know you were the seller. i would buy them now but im just not to sure if thats the way i want to go. also i dont have the cash right now. i didnt mean to rag on you or the product i just didnt know why they were priced so high. now i know. thats kool though, even if i had the cash to get them i would still need them before the run. thanks though. dont get me wrong it just that i need to make up my mind on what i want to do to this car, sus. wise. (see 1st post) if those coilovers were really the only thing i needed to buy then yeah i would be all over it. even if 1k is a little steep, atleast for me it is. i would still rather go with all the stuff i listed in the post, i added it all up, came out to about 800 bucks. only draw back is i cant lower the car. which isnt that big of a deal. also, shofun, check out my post on the one month notice thread. maybe you can give me some pointers if you want too.

Coilovers are a bit overkill for a street-driven SHO, unless you really lower the springs rates. I'm running 500/350 on mine and it's a bit of a jouncy ride even with the Konis on full stiff. It actually (MHO) makes the car less fun to drive on the street because bumps upset the car more (but it works very well at road courses, far better than any of the simple lower spring combinations).

IPT shipped most of their kits with 600/400 springs (stiffer), so the ride would be even more interesting.

I have the IPT coilovers (Installed by none other than Shawn) and the ride is VERY stiff. I drive it daily, but I only live one mile from work...

I have ridden in Lance's and it is much more streetable, so I highly recommend getting lower spring rates. (I am planning on going with 500/350 Hypercoils in the future).

I agree with Lance, and we have very nearly identical suspension configurations. My SHO sees a lot of street use and even 500/350 is barely tolerable with a full-weight car, I can't imagine what 750 would be like on the street. Lance's car is lighter so that makes the roughness on the street worse as well.

Also, the Konis aren't valved for springs this stiff. They're really barely adequate (inadequate to a degree) once you start getting past about 400 lbs/in in the front IMHO. I had braking problems at Firebird a couple weeks ago because there's a sudden elevation change that unloads the suspension just before one of the braking zones. Coming off that bump the oscillation in the front due to underdamping made braking fairly entertaining.

It's best to get the Konis revalved if one is using high spring rates. It's not cheap and in my case I don't have time to pull the suspension and have the car sit while I send the inserts off to get reworked.

Fortunately most of the tracks around here are pretty smooth so it's usually not a huge issue.

Believe it or not, I had 750s on my coilover set....rode like a little red wagon...Oh well they are gone now....sold via ebay last night...
