I was wondering if anyone has some info on coilover systems. I know of the one from Innovative Performance Technologies, but my computer dosent load the page right for some reason. How much do coilovers cost? How much will they lower? and what if anything else do I have to get. What are the downsides to coilovers.

Are coilovers better then just getting springs and shocks.

The coilovers cost $900 and they alos include shocks if I understand it correctly. The owner of IPT is a memeber on theses boards if you need to tlak to him. His name is Shawn and his memeber name is: 1fastsho. As for how much it lowers you will need to talk to him about that. Coilovers are better then springs because you can adjust you height to what ever you want within its limits. Hope this helps.

the coil overs are the best thing you can get. they come with plates to adjust the caster/camber(? not sure if both) they are beautiful pieces, you can get them ordered with the springs you want so it will ride however you want it to and you can lower it an inch off the ground if you want. although the front angles would be too much, but you can do it.

That's not exactly true. You can get coilovers from Ground Control. From what I've seen, though, IPT's design is superior. I would get them over the GC ones.

i am not sure if the ground control kit is a direct fitment for the SHO. i know they have a kit that can be moddified to fit the sho. the down side is that the strut tower was not made to handle the weight of the car over the small area which the strut mounts to. IPT provides a whole new mounting arear thats made out of very thick metal to distribute the weight evenly. if you would like pics of the kit layed out to see all the pieces i can email them to you. i haven't installed my kit because i am still stocking up to replace the entire suspension at once. i will garuantee you that the IPT kit is superior to every honda kit thats you can get for cheaper then he sells our kits. if they could be made cheaper, he would do it to save us the money, but these kits are made to work good and never break. a honda weighs half what an SHO does too.

Give them a call and talk to them. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to give you the lowdown.

As we've said, though, IPT's kit is superior.

This pic is actually with my old SHOShop Linears and 45 series tires. It was very low in front and too high in back. With the coilovers I have the front about the same and the rear about 1/2" high than the front (measured at the rocker panel). Guess it's time to get an up to date pic.

There is a pic of my car with IPT coils in the Open forum under some of the convention pics. Drove the car fully loaded (tools, jack, 4 race wheels and tires, extra brakes, loads of stuff) for the 1300 miles there and 1300 miles back. I love these things. If this was my only car and had to be a daily driver, I would think twice, or at the least get softer springs (600 F and 350 R now). They handled like a champ at Summit Point, and the ability to go low down for that sweet look during a car show is SOOO nice.

you havent seen low thumbs_u

I still havent seen a coilover setup lower than my SHO upfront. Toolman was suppose to take pics for me "slammed" but he had problems. And Shawn neva sent me pics of it slammed just a bit higher than my height. SHOFF also has the rear pretty low but he said the front would not go lower so I dont know who to believe. I really want them but if its gonna be the same or higher than my current height its not worth it.
