I was driving my car at 60mph and then all of a sudden the revs dropped to 0rpm and then after about 2 seconds went back up then they went erracticly up and down making the car buck. Im going to try replacing the CID sensor and the CPS sensor as I was told to do. What the frig is the deal with everyone having the same damn problem lately. Its a sensor plague!!!

There is always at least 3 problems a day related to the CPS posted here. Just one of those common problems with the SHO. Good Luck with replacing the CPS.

If it was your 98 your cam might have snapped in half. Then you could be running on half you engine or less. As for randomly dying my friend put a new computer in his car when i died on him(and being how you replaced the cps) it might be a capasitor leak. He got a new one and 3 months later that one went out. Might be power surges, or bad ground. You can pull your computer take the cover off it and check to see if you if you have black gooey stuff melted to the circuit board. Its pretty obvious to see a leak, so dont worry if you dont see one.

If you received both codes 211 and 214, the odds are not that both the CPS and CID sensors have failed, but that a common denominator has created the problem. Check the electrical connectors to the DIS module for tightness, the ground strap from the firewall to the upper bolt on the rear passenger side intake bracket and the two 12mm bolts that secure the intake's crossover tube to the front and rear plenums. If no problem can be found at these locations, I would suspect that the DIS is at fault before I would suspect that both the CPS and CID sensors failed simultaneously.
