Code 81

I got a codes pulled at Autozone (Rotunda equipment).This code is when the IAC is not getting enough power to work resulting in a 2000-3000RPM idle speed. I tried to trace the short(If there is one)and after 2 hours I came up short.If there any one who has experienced this shortage to the IAC or just have a clue please help.I am contemplating taking it to the dealer but that idea SCARES THE **** OUT OF ME

The 81 code will occur in the Key On Engine Off mode. the code is described as "Insufficient Idle Air Solenoid OUTPUT voltage CHANGE when ACTIVATED (3L MAF-SFI) or

Secondary Air Injection Diverter AM2 (AIRD) solinoid circuit failure.

I do not think you are looking for a "short". I think youo have an AIS failure or a failure of the AIS circuit. I'll see if I can find the test for the AIS. Steve, anybody, have the ohms or voltage tests for the AIS. rangerj

Check and make sure the IAC is plugged in.

The problem is that there is no power from the supply plug itself, also this is 1991 from want I read they did not the air injection diverter on them until 1993.
