Really its just something to consider on any big brake kit. Hub flex and pad knockback seems to be quite common on kits where the rotors get to be 13" or larger. I know the poeple on the z forum have pad knock back issues all over the place when using fixed mount calipers. I don't have any proof, but a 2 piece rotor with an aluminum hat might fare better than the standard one piece design. The way I figure is that the aluminum is more flexible than rigid cast iron and can take being flexed a bit. If anyone knows better, please shoot me down. We should get TCE in here.

Has anybody with the Baer 12.5" kit that uses the modified GenI knuckles had this problem? I've never experienced it to my knowledge, but I only ran one-piece rotors for a year or two.

Pad knockback is common with any fixed-caliper brake kit. When you see the footcams on pro road racers where they pump the pedal up with their left foot before going into every corner, that's to counter the pad knockback and get the pad back up to the rotor in time for the corner.

 I don't claim to be a metallurgist, but, AFAIK, aluminum is more brittle than iron; where iron will flex, aluminum will fracture. Maybe it would be better to use forged steel hats instead of cast iron. Or am I just confused here?

there was a member in 2005 at running of the bulls (TCCA convention) that had his 13" willwood rotor explode. damaged rim, destroyed tire set multiple fires on the track which I believe were stomped out. it did a lot of damage but he managed to keep it on the course.

I tried finding the thread on TCCA but I can't seem to come up with it.
