Here's my story:
It sat, tradgedy it may be, for a good year, outdoors, run occasionally (every
couple months) to keep it goin........
So this time I went to start it up, engine ran beautiful, but the clutch hesitated to engage(come back up from the floor) the first couple times I engaged it, then
once I got down the hill, it no longer would engage, and the pedal stays to the floor. Naturally, I can't go anywhere(but downhill ) with it like this and if I run the car very long I smell clutch.

Where do I start to diagnose/fix this? aside from getting it towed back up the hill...

Thanks..

First think you can do is get under the hood and find the release are on top of the tranny its just below the throttle body. See if you can pull this arm to the rear of the car. This is the arm that is connected to the shaft the pushes the actuation fork against the TOB to push against the Pressure plate. Your TOB maybe sticking on the quill. Or your release shaft bushings may have got stuck. Or a Chance that the pressure plate springs let go but thats hard to see them all snapping. Anyway you can try to **** the top release shaft bearing where that rod enters the tranny and move the arm back and forth. If you don't get anywhere with this it kind of sounds like your tranny is going to have to come out.

If the clutch cable were stuck it would still release the clutch. The release arm would just move back and there would be slack in the cable.

Found it.... Didn't budge.... Gonna have to take some things out to get in there and try greasing it. What's a tob? I've almost got the mental picture in my head of how this all works... I'll do a search on here to see if I can find more information to get a better understanding of how "this" clutch works.

wd40? elbow grease? what should I **** it with, penetrating oil type stuff? And shouldn't the lever go towards the front of the car, not the back, to release/engage the clutch?

On the better side of things, looks like the clutch cable is fine :)
Also found my air intake clamp wasn't tightened down... Lol

Thx

Got that taken care of, looked on www.howstuffworks.com, (hey, when in doubt) and saw what the Throw Out Bearing is, and it pretty much makes sense now.

Anything wrong with puttin some serious pressure on the arm to get it to move?
Mind you the clutch *DID* release a few times (slowly, but it did) before it totally froze.... Wait ... is that good or bad?

Stuck a screwdriver in there, got the right angle, popped the clutch loose. Keep workin it back and forth, when I push it in all the way it sticks, but with a little leverage it 'pops' loose. I'm guessing things just got a little sticky cause it sat so long. What kinda **** should I stick in there and is there anything else I should check on? I readjusted the cable too, since it got all messed from me saying "Maybe I can pull up on the clutch while it's stuck down there.... what's that clicking sound?"

Yeah... It's kinda like that...
