hello everyone. question for you all. I have a 92 SHO with 162,000 miles. I bought the car last year with 150,000 mileson it. I changed the plugs, wires, timing belt, water pump, a/c compressor, CP sensor by myself. with the aid of this web site, I did it myself with no problem. car runs mint. now the clutch is just about shot. I lift the pedal a hair, and its starts to engage. I don't think it fully disengages, hard shifting, now I hear clicking. other post indicate maybe a finger broke off PP. I'm thinking of buying the Clutch Kit Motorcraft and a ceramic TOB from Midwest SHO. Has anyone used Midwest SHO? has anyone used the clutch set up? except for an occasional 6 grand shift, I really baby this car. never do holeshots. I don't think the Fibertuff 9 Puck is needed. any suggestions would be great. I have to change clutch shortly. I'm not doing this job, it's a little over my head. anyone know a SHO mechanic on Long Island, New York

Midwest SHO has a great reputation here on the forum. I've personally never ordered from them but wouldn't hesitate if needed.

In December, we replaced the original "upgraded" 9.75" clutch with a factory clutch kit. So far I'm really satisfied with the package. I went with the upgraded TOB/bushings from SHONUT. Much improved pedal feel. Clutch finally works as intended!

I'm not a big fan of the stock disc and pressure plate. I've seen way to many problems with "new" ones. I'd recommend a 9-puck fibertuff disc even on a stock car, they are just an awesome clutch. And definitely pick up a ceramic TOB whether from SHONutPerformance or MidWestSHO.

I've been reading the post. I'm sure the Fibertuff 9 Puck is a strong clutch and good if racing or have modifications, however some people complain that it's to grabby making normal take offs tough with lots of clutch chatter. I bought this off a female original owner, she cant remember ever changing the clutch. it might be the original. she did do the 60K tune up once though. anyone have a SHO that got 160k miles on original clutch? my brother has a mint 85 T-Bird turbo with the 5 speed, has about 110,000 with original clutch. He also got 75,000 miles out of the original front brakes.(guess he also babies the car). I just ordered from Midwest SHO the stock clutch,PP, and the ceramic TOB. I'll let you know how I make out

Pete...I have run nothing but OEM Motocraft in my MTX SHO's. The most recent being my dad's 92.

I haven't had any problems with the OEM and I have/had 3 MTX SHO's and put probably a total of 75,000 on the 3 combined.

The 91+ I bought 2 summers ago will need a clutch this summer. I will be putting in another OEM one. This time I might try the ceramic TOB as last time I was doin a clutch it had just came out and wasn't proved enough for me to fork over the extra dough.

I had a car come in one summer with like 145k on it and the original clutch. The flywheel was worn so badly that I had to replace that as well.

I'm glad to hear about your sucess with OEM clutches giksho. did you do the clutch yourself? did you change anything else besides the disc/PP/TOB? I'm having a buddy from a local tranny shop do mine. I pulled out my parents tranny in my driveway-89 Lincoln Town Car, was not that bad of a job. But this SHO, forget about it!

Ya...I put the clutch in the 92...also freshened up the trans...new syncho's/blocking rings. Not too bad.

Worst part was the rusted exhaust studs. Need to use alot of heat. Made a engine hoist at work that worked slick. Wasn't as easy as doin the clutch in my 89 probe gt. But with another set of hands you can manage getting the tranny out.

I did all wear items, Pressure plate, TOB, resurface flywheel.
